NOKIA NIGERIA LAUNCHES ITS N97 MINI SMARTPHONE

Nokia Nigeria has unveiled its Nokia N97 mini in Nigeria sporting new homescreen widgets and a host of usability improvements.

The Communications Manager, Nokia Nigeria, Ngozi Ife Anene, said, the launch of N97 mini into the market is to meet the yearnings of our consumers in terms of affordability of the device and also to help more consumers connect each other while using its Ovi platform to download and share photo.

She added that the device would comes in two colours garnet and cherry black and would be available in December for an unknown price, but would be cheaper than the N97.

Describing the functionality of the device and its difference from N97, Head, Category Marketing, Nseries, Middle East, Dubai, Henri Mattila, said the functionality of the N97 mini is same with N97 only that it has 8 GB memory storage capacity, smaller in terms of size and has a 3.2-inch touchscreen compared to N97.

He added that, “we have actually sold more and exceeded sales compared to the sale of N95 series. The N97 is appealing to our customers and is generating a lot of good reports. The good thing about this device is that, it has a platform in which updates and modification can be made by downloading via the internet.”

Mattila noted that the N97 mini still packs 8GB of storage, a 3.2-inch touchscreen and full QWERTY keyboard into its 14.2mm thin frame, while sporting Lifecasting with Ovi. The N97 mini is based on the same tilt display design of its N97 built into a smaller body complete with new design touches.

He added that the Lifecasting enables users to update their Facebook status directly from the device’s homescreen, while enabling a whole new level of social sharing and communication with the ability to completely customise the homescreen and make it unique.

The 3.2-inch touchscreen opens up a new world of software improvements including flick scrolling and a range of new experiences including new homescreen widgets.

The Nokia N97 mini works seamlessly with Ovi Store where users can add new applications, widgets, ringtones and other content to their device. It also sports Ovi Maps and comes with integrated A-GPS and compass along with voice navigation for driving or walking.

The N97 mini takes up to 12 days standby time and offers up to 28 hours music playback (in offline mode). The 5-megapixel camera comes with dual LED flash and video light, along with a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens. The 8GB of on board memory can be expanded to 24GB with the addition of a 16GB microSD card.
