SAMSUNG UNVEILS THE NEW GALAXY TAB



Etisalat Nigeria in partnership with Samsung Electronics West Africa (SEWA) has unveiled the new Samsung GALAXY Tab to the Nigeria market.

The GALAXY Tab meets the needs of the upwardly mobile and dynamic business executives whose lives would be enhanced by using the available innovative services the device offers.

The GALAXY Tab which is available at all Etisalat experience centres, comes with a free bundled data, text and voice plan for one year and would cost N125,000.00.

The device allows users to enjoy PC-like web browsing, e-mail-on-the-go, voice and SMS functionality, social network updates, video call and other smart device functionality with an optimized user interface. The product is a 7 inch device with android operating system 2.2 which combines all the functionalities of a personal computer and a mobile phone convenient form factor.

Director, Samsung Nigeria, Fady Khatib, said the Galaxy Tab is a true mobile device that is comfortable to carry around and use on the move or enjoyed while relaxing on the couch at home.

According to him, “ It’s a perfect device for working smarter, watching movies, reading an e-book, catching up on any favorite TV shows or even chatting with an old friend. The Tab’s design is sleek and fits very easily into most jacket and trouser pockets”.

Etisalat Chief Commercial Officer, Wael Ammar noted that the introduction of the  device in partnership with SEWA is a further entrenchment of Etisalat’s position as leader in delivery of innovative services and world class products.

He added “ Etisalat thrives on innovation. We are happy to be the first network in Africa to introduce this new functional and sleek device to the Nigerian and indeed African market”.

Explaining the details of the partnership, Ammar said that the Tab comes with an Etisalat SIM card which offers 25mins of free voice calls, 25 free SMS and 250MB free data access every month for one year.

He noted that subscribers would begin to enjoy the freebies as soon as they purchase the Samsung Galaxy Tab with the Etisalat bundle which comes with automatic credit on the first day of every month, while adding that as soon as the freebies are exhausted subscribers can top up their account and make voice calls or send SMS.

Describing the features of the device, the product manager for Samsung Nigeria, Jude Omozege, said that the Samsung Galaxy Android Tab has a 10.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1,024x600 pixels.
He pointed out that with 16GB of storage users can always add more using the microSD card slot. The device which has a 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS integrated for use with Google Maps and other mapping/navigation applications would last 7 hours when playing a H264 video file on a loop and stays 14days if idle.
